Summer is upon us, and that means it’s time to hit the beach. Or the lake. Or a river. Or even a park that has some grass and hopefully a good view. Regardless of where you can get out, having a day out in the sun where you can just relax and nap in a chair with a good beach read is very much needed to recharge the batteries.
If you’re going somewhere special, or at least heading out a few hours away, then you will need to pack. For some, you may want to hit the shops and give your beachwear a refresh. Either way, this checklist will help you understand exactly what to pick up and bring with you to feel great on that beach holiday.
Tips for Buying Better Swimsuits
If your swimsuit collection has seen better days, or you just don’t feel comfortable or confident in them, then it’s time to make a change. You want swimwear that’s supportive and deliciously comfortable to wear, and, above all, you want it in a shape that feels good to you. If that shape isn’t the bikini, then you have so many more options. You can go for a tankini, you can go for a full-body one-piece, and more.
If you are shopping, try to go for ethically made options. Carve Designs, for example, uses ethical manufacturing, recycled fabrics, and boasts a great range of seamless designs and options with Spandex for superior comfort.
Feel good, then look good, and you’ll have a wonderful day at the beach.
Good Footwear
Beaches do mean a lot of walking. If you want to take good care of your knees and hips, especially if you’re passing that 30s mark, you’ll want to choose a pair of cute sandals that:
- Have arch support
- Can easily be removed
- Are hardwearing
Flimsy flip-flops offer minimal protection – you end up sliding out of them onto that hot sand and they tend to break apart. Choose shoes that support you, look good, and won’t fall apart in the sand and salt.
Good Coverups
You can’t wear a swimsuit into the store or in a restaurant, so you will want to have a good, easy coverup. Ideally, This should be incredibly stylish, easy to put on, and effortless to wear. Options that cinch in at the waist with a tie or a wrap-style dress are some of the best, no-maintenance options out there. For best results, choose natural fibres that are breathable and very fast to dry, like linen.
A Wide-Brim Hat
Wide-brim sun hats are the go-to beach accessory, but they also have the very important job of keeping the sun out of your eyes, face and shoulders. With sun protection in mind, the bigger option is better. There are even SPF hats out there, which work to block out all radiation.
UVA/UVB Protection Sunglasses
If your sunglasses aren’t capable of filtering out UVA/UVB light, they are worthless. Throw them out. They are only going to harm your eyes in the long run. Instead, invest in good quality sunglasses. These don’t even need to break the bank, but they do need to protect your eyes from solar radiation so you can continue soaking in that beautiful beach view in style.
