Vijayawada Latest: Commencement of Budget Session, Will Last Through March 24

Tuesday marked the beginning of the budget session that will take place during the AP legislature. Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer was the first to speak during the joint session. Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitaram, Council chairman Koyye Moshen Raju, and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy welcomed the governor to the legislature before the opening of the session.

Following the governor’s address, the joint session of the two houses was recessed. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting was called to order by the Speaker of the Assembly, Thammineni Sitaram, in the assembly’s conference hall. The meeting of the BAC was attended by Jagan, the minister of legislative affairs Buggana Rajendranath, and the ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Jogi Ramesh, as well as the chief whip Mudunuri Prasada Raju and the whip G Srikanth Reddy. The Budget Advisory Committee has reached the conclusion that the budget session will continue through March 24, encompassing both Saturday and Sunday. The Ugadi festival has resulted in the 21st and 22nd of March being designated as vacations for the Assembly.

On March 15, the House of Representatives will debate a resolution of thanks in response to the governor’s address to the House, and on the same day, the chief minister will give his response in the House.

On March 16, Rajendranath will deliver the yearly budget for 2023-24 to the House of Representatives.
