As the president, founder, and CEO of Ethos Asset Management Inc., Carlos Santos is no stranger to managing a global financial organization. In fact, it is one of the toughest and most stressful assignments in anyone’s life. The global economy and political climate pose a significant challenge to forecasting and push financial specialists to make the correct judgments and pursue the appropriate paths. Despite the challenges, Carlos has proven himself to be a master of his craft, successfully navigating Ethos through turbulent waters time and again. As a result, Ethos is now one of the premier financial organizations in the world. Thanks in large part to Carlos’s expertise, vision, and leadership.
Carlos is a highly accomplished individual. During his academic studies, he received the Ernst & Young Award; Best Economist (2016), the Banco de Portugal Award (2015), various academic honors (2014, 2013, and 2012), and several merit scholarships as recognition of his academic and professional success.
In his work at Ethos Asset Management, Carlos supervises the group’s firms and is a stakeholder in them. He has a degree in Economics and Master’s degrees in three major areas: finance, banking accounting, and international taxation. His experience and expertise have made him a valuable asset to the company.
Carlos is a driven individual who is constantly striving for success. His awards and accomplishments are a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Redefining The Financial Industry
Ethos was able to amass enormous wealth as a result of its trading algorithm as well as the funds that accrued due to royalties and profits. This enabled the company to set aside resources for project finance under conditions that are unique to the market.
The operational risk, as well as the macroeconomic risk, can be moved to the banking system thanks to the collateralization structure of the agreement, which is implemented through financial guarantees.
A simultaneous indirect return on the project in question is generated by the financial assurance.
If the assurance is
- A SBLC Credit Facility, Ethos, receives a Credit Line extended by its bank with 80 percent of the Loan to Value;
- Pledge of a deposit of the client in favor of Ethos with its bank in the beneficiary position, which allows its bank to extend a Credit Line with 80 percent of Loan to Value;
This type of business strategy supplies Ethos with a source of the credit line, which can be exchanged or invested in other projects, or it can be kept within the company’s balance sheet. This structure enables the project to remunerate Ethos in two different ways:
1. directly, through the interest rate that the client pays Ethos;
2. indirectly, through the credit line extended to Ethos, which enables Ethos to make earnings through trading, other projects, or via their balance sheet position.
Ethos is able to return its initial investment in one project that takes an average of 12 years in just seven years and two months using this method.
In a roundabout sense, the fact that collateral is used to secure credit lines contributes to an increase in the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of the project while simultaneously reducing the Pay Back Period (PB). Such a business model gives the sector something never seen before – a win-win structure in the financial market.
Ethos Asset Management which began initially through Carlos Santos’ developed algorithm, and later traded its procceds from royalties, allowed the development of a unique model of project financing that made Ethos and Carlos a billionaire before his 30s!
Carlos Santos lost everything in 2015 after being scammed. He had turned 21 when he started to recover and began his journey to becoming a billionaire. When lost he was sure that someday he would go back to the top again.
The adventurous Portuguese billionaire did it by the age of 27, with his own financial company, Ethos Asset Management. He doesn’t do things by halves as he states always, ‘’he is only starting’’. Santos is creating a revolution in the financial sector allowing the risk of investments to be dematerialised to a non-related risk of default collateral.
Since 2018, from his company headquartered in the USA and from there expanded across the globe,
Carlos Santos is a 27-year old entrepreneur whose net worth stands at an estimated $2 billion.
