How do entrepreneurs define success as? In my other articles on NYK Daily, I have described several potential answers to this question. For the purposes of this article, however, we will limit our discussion to one: Success is having an energized personal vision and attitude about living that leads to the achievement of your goals and aspirations. Having an energized personal vision and attitude about living is, of course, vital for entrepreneurs to have the confidence that they can achieve great things in their lives and businesses. Having a passion about your work and the joy that comes with being a working entrepreneur are equally important elements to achieving success.
To be successful, then, it seems, you must have as many elements in place as possible working to support your desire to be successful. This clearly defines the distinction between entrepreneurs and others who view business success as being a matter of luck or chance. No doubt, luck plays a role in some aspects of entrepreneurship. However, if you have as many elements in place as possible working to support your passion about working and your vision of making a good living, then you are less likely to be so lucky.
Having an excited by the prospect of work attitude is also essential if you want to succeed as a business entrepreneur. Being passionate about what you do means that you are more invested in your work and you love what you do. If you are enthusiastic about your work, you are more likely to take on tasks that are exciting and challenging and to complete them with a high degree of completion. You are more likely to get things done on time and to make the best use of each individual facet of your business.
Having a passion for your business does not mean that you have to devote your entire life to it. It just means that you have a dream and you are willing to go forward with it. You do not have to live in the future to have a dream. In fact, sometimes it is a good idea to live in the past and imagine the possibilities of the future. In this way, you can see how you would feel if you won the lottery, if you had a rich dad, if you were chosen out of millions for a college scholarship, etc.
Another trait necessary for successful entrepreneurs is the ability to set goals. You need to write down your short, medium and long term goals before you open your business. A successful entrepreneur must visualise himself/herself achieving each goal. For example, if you are a carpet cleaner, your goals might include cleaning ten rooms in a day. However, if you plan to start a chain of carpet cleaning businesses, your goals might be reaching one thousand rooms cleaned a day.
In addition to being excited by the prospect of work, passionate about what you do and having a dream, entrepreneurs need to know how to define success. In order to do this, they have to understand the three most important factors that lead to success: money, effort, and results. By focusing on these three variables, you can see clearly which of the three you need to intensify. In fact, some entrepreneurs have even figured out what the most efficient method is for boosting each factor to the point where all three are at their maximum. However, by having a good idea about what they should strive for, it will be easier for them to reach their goals and to work towards their financial security, their health, their families, and their community.
Next, you must put some time and effort into figuring out what you will look for in terms of financial security, physical health, freedom, and life experience. This may seem like an incredibly long list of criteria, but it is necessary so that you can build a list that is big enough to spark your ambition. There are some entrepreneurs who will say that they want to do something special with their business; however, they also want to feel secure as if their families will always be around. Others will want to work on their families while working their businesses; however, there are still many who simply want a good paycheck, a good house, and the ability to save money for the future. While it may be easy to say that you want to do one thing, there is really no way to know what that thing is until you do it. This is why it is important to choose something that you will love to do for a living and that you think you can succeed at.
Remember, successful entrepreneurs have high levels of commitment. It takes a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to be successful. Unfortunately, some entrepreneurs are burned out after being in business for a few years. A successful entrepreneur should never give up. He/She should seek continued growth even after the company is established. A strong sense of self, passion, and perseverance are qualities that all successful entrepreneurs have.
