Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Guwahati and Imphal this weekend during a two-day trip beginning Saturday.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader will distribute financial grants to 8,000 Namghars (traditional Vaishnavite monasteries of Assam) under the Assam Darshan programme in Guwahati on Saturday at 1 p.m.
At the event, the Home Minister will also lay foundation stones for the development of ‘Batadrava Than’ as cultural and tourist destinations, the New Medical College in Guwahati (the 2nd medical college in the city) and nine law colleges to be established across Assam.
On Sunday, the second day of his visit, Shah will lay the foundation stones of the Churachandpur Medical College in Imphal at 11.15 a.m.
He will also lay the foundation stone of the IIT at Muongkhong, the state police head quarter at Imphal, and the Integrated Command and Control Centre City there.
