With the left back in power, Bolivia resumes diplomatic ties with Venezuela, Iran

Bolivia's Luis Arce waves before receiving his credentials as elected President, in La Paz, Bolivia

On Wednesday, the new Bolivian President Luis Arce retrived diplomatic relations with Venezuela and Iran, Bolivia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

Both Venezuela and Iran have appointed their ambassadors to Bolivia et again, a year after Bolivia’s opposition-backed interim government, led by Jeanine Anez, broke off relations with them.

The Ambassadors of Venezuela, Alexander Yanez, and Iran, Morteza Tafreshi, presented their credentials to Arce on Wednesday morning.

Both diplomats were earlier accredited by the Bolivian Foreign Ministry.

Arce took office on November 8 after winning general elections as the candidate of the Movement Towards Leftist Socialism on Oct. 18.
