President-elect Joe Biden has won Nevada, adding to his Electoral College victory over President Donald Trump.
Biden won Nevada on Saturday afternoon, shortly after he won the presidency by winning Pennsylvania.
Trump had made a near-decisive play in Nevada, holding many rallies there in the final stretch of the campaign. Democrat Hillary narrowly won Nevada in 2016, and Republicans saw an opening to extend their electoral map.
COVID has destroyed Nevada’s tourism-dependent economy, especially, lowering Trump’s ability to make inroads in the state.
Nevada is also home to a substantial Hispanic population, a voting bloc that normal leans towards Democrats.
George W. Bush was the last Republican candidate to win Nevada in 2004.
