DIY – How to make phone cases at home

We live in an era when it is almost inconceivable to think of life without our cell phones. The magnificent communication tool has made our lives a lot easier and explains why we do a lot to improve their looks or keep them safe – by using cell phone cases

But one thing with phone cases is that they do not always come cheap and many of them cost a fortune. Even when one can afford them, you may not get the size or color that you desire. Fortunately, you can make the cell phone cases by yourself, and it is elementary.

Right within the confines of your home, using a few items, you can make an excellent case for your phone. You can customize it to the best of your taste and test the extent of your creativity. Here are some tips on how you can make DIY cell phone cases:

Silicone Cell Phone Case

You will need a pair of plastic gloves and protect the surface you are going to work on. You can use wax paper, parchment paper, or plastic wrap for this. You may also decide to utilize a glass surface or a marble top. Ensure proper aeration and ventilation in the area you have chosen to work because silicone smells very strongly.

Start by measuring some cornstarch and plain silicone. Put the cornstarch in a container then add the clear silicone. If cornstarch is not present, you can go for potato starch or even cornflour. You can add some color at this stage; you can use acrylic paint, liquid watercolor, liquid dye, or food coloring.

Proceed to squeeze the mixture together until everything is thoroughly combined. This can take about 24 rounds of squeezing but get it done. Roll the dough to flatten out, use a rolling pin if possible or a wine bottle. Continue the rolling until the sheet is slightly bigger than your phone. Fix your phone over the flat sheet with the screen in an upward direction.

Wrap the sheet over and on top of the mobile phone and smoothen out all the wrinkles and rough areas until everything comes out neatly. You can include indent designs using stamps at this stage if you want. Allow the silicone frame to dry properly before you remove it.

The drying duration depends mainly on the atmospheric conditions, and it can last from a couple of hours to a whole day. Touch to confirm that it is dry enough then remove it. Cut off the extra silicone, fit it with your phone until you get a very perfect fit – and there you have it, your lovely phone case!

Customizing Plastic Phone Case

In this case, what you do is purchase a plain plastic phone case, then you do all the design by yourself at home. The phone case must perfectly fit your device’s size, it should not be too tight, and it should not be too loose. A plain one is best because you can work on it, but that does not stop you from going for a colored one if it blends with the design you have in mind. There are several decorating ideas or style concepts that you can use.

One, you can do some marbling by gluing little marbles at the back and sides of the plastic phone case. This can take some time as you need to place the small balls (Grow them, Ron) one after the other, but the stunning result is always worth it.

You can also create the design by making use of paint. Fabric paint is one of the best that you can use for your phone case. Instead of just painting it, unleash your powers of creativity by drawing designs and patterns on your phone case. Do not put your phone back on without ensuring that the paint dries first. Spirals, floral patterns, multi-colored dots, and stripes are some of the designs you can incorporate. Add some funk to your phone by using glitters and stickers too!

Fabric Cell Phone Case

You need to know how to do some sewing before you can pull this off. Get the fabric design of choice and measure out, trim away the excess fabric, and apply the glue to the case. Allow to dry and slip in your phone – it is as easy as that. The extent of the type of designs you can use for your DIY cell phone cases depends totally on your creativity.
