The classy black dress has seen funerals, weddings, cocktail parties and birthdays. However, a plain black dress can get somewhat dull with regular use, and accessories become necessary. Luckily, as black goes with nearly everything, it is not tough to dress up black.
Here are a few ways you can style your black dress for different occasions with different looks.
Large earrings or an eye-catching necklace are great ways to dress up your black dress. It is necessary to remember that if wearing large earrings, then the chain should be subtle or if wearing a large necklace, then the earrings should be kept simplistic.
For the sexy evening look, add sparks to your costume jewelry. Consider slipping on silver heels and jeweled bangles. If you want to pick a black dress for a romantic ball, you might want to choose some diamonds or maybe a pearl necklace. If you’re going to adorn a pearl necklace, try wearing different strands at varying lengths. A nice pair of pearls, detailed tights, and a few heel inches can dress up any outfit.
A fabulous brooch pinned to the top of the dress can add beauty to the dress. You can add the brooch on your hip, at the classic position at the top of your breast, on the front of the dress just below your shoulder, or on a low cut wrap dress right where your cleavage meets the fabric. It keeps the fabric in place and checks it from shifting. Silver, gold, or colored: the brooch can match the shoes, jewelry, or make a fold all of its own. A pin adds a beautiful touch to the dress, especially if it is an interesting antique or vintage brooch.
Add bright colored tights to a plain black dress. The tights will reflect a punch of color. Put on flesh-colored tights to even out the skin tone on your legs, and add cute shoes. Plain black and simple flats look more office casual while a pair of red high-heeled pumps can add excitement. Wear the dress with tights in the fall/autumn and winter for warmth and to add color. Wear the colored tights, matching nail polish, hair accessories, and jewelry to dress up any black dress style.
Change into a separate pair of shoes to change the look. Shoes can make a dress look different, whether you choose stilettos or flats, the bigger the shoes, the better the dress-up factor’s effect. Wear a simplistic rounded pair of black pumps and a pair of crown earrings with a silk wrap. The chandelier pendants and silk wraps look great when matching and if in a warm color. Add a pair of dainty shoes. The colors can easily be altered, depending on the look you are going for. To mix some spice to your dress, go for shoes that are brightly colored or metallic. For formal occasions, metallics are an excellent dressy option. Since the dress is straight and black, go with shoes with visual contrast, interest, or elaborate detailing.
Add a handbag or a small clutch. A bigger bag works for regular days, while a homely clutch in a dazzling color works well for dressing up for more formal events. Pick your dress with strappy shoes and a sequined handbag for a night out.
Belts A belt at the waist shapes great interest and emphasis on a plain black dress. The belt worn loosely around the hips or cinched around the waist can completely alter the dress. You can place the belt a few inches below your breasts. A belt draws the illusion of a bigger bust (helps me always), and it also gives a different shape to your body.
Scarves are my favorite way to spice up a simple black dress. A lightweight scarf can be picked during any season to stroke an outfit. There are numerous ways to tie a scarf, and most scarves can be worn around the neck, on the head, or across the shoulders.
A beautiful sheer shawl will look fantastic if you are wearing a strapless dress or spaghetti strap. Not only does it add excitement otherwise plain dress, but it also will keep you a bit warmer if the weather is cold.
Create a sexy look with the black dress by blending it with a suit jacket and a bag. Throw on a zebra-print coat paired with a red handbag and sexy leather boots for a post-breakup night out.
