Cancun and the Mayan Riviera are ideal destinations for families looking for a destination that’s refreshing for the parents and fun for the children. Just like Disneyland, Cancun is a paradisiacal area where adults and children can enjoy together. With the bonus of pristine beaches and bright warm sea, it is an ideal holiday destination for families with kids of all ages. From natural water parks enveloped by lush forest vegetation to swimming with dolphins and whale sharks, plenty of water sports and ancient Mayan ruins – families will never run short of options to explore while visiting Cancun.

One of the best draws of Cancun is probably families enjoying the Xcaret Park. Xcaret is a water park with a difference, and it is easy to spend at least one full day in this tropical utopia. You can snorkel in Xcaret’s marvellous underground rivers, take a raft cruise along Paradise River, and unwind on Paradise Beach. For some animal action, you can visit the Manatee Lagoon, Butterfly Pavilion, the Marine Turtle’s area and Spider Monkey Island. There is so much to see and do here that you wouldn’t want to leave (particularly the children, you will have to drag them out literally). If all the walking and swimming exhausts you, you can always take a seat and watch one of Xcaret’s four incredible shows.

Another water paradise to explore with your family in Cancun is Xel Ha. You can swim with dolphins and manatees, float around the river in a tube, and snorkel, dive, and scuba to view a fantastic array of tropical fish. For even more water recreation and the adventure of a lifetime, take a trip to Holbox to swim with the gentle Whale Sharks. Or why not take the short and charming ferry ride from Playa del Carmen to the stunning island of Cozumel? Here the whole family can experience some of the best snorkelling in the world, have an off-road ATV jungle experience and take a fly fishing trip.

Chankanaab National Marine Park, with its magnificent dolphin shows is one of Cozumel’s significant attractions. For a cultural and exciting experience, Cozumel’s Mayan Steam Lodge is also a famous attraction. Here they offer Temazcal, a popular Mayan Steambath.

But all the family attractions mentioned here are only to give you a general idea of the wonderful experiences that people can embark on to have a holistic Cancun holiday. For an exotic holiday that the whole family will enjoy, Cancun and the Mayan Riviera cannot be ignored.
