Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for COVID-19 today. The 84 year old asked everyone who has come in contact with him in the last 7 days to get tested as a precautionary measure.

He tweeted “On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19”.

The Congress Leader was the President of India from 2012 – 2017.

Union Minister from BJP, Piyush Goyal extended his wishes and expressed his confidence in Mukherjee’s recovery.

The Congress, spokesperson Randeep Surjewala and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also wished him a speedy recovery on their twitter handles.
