Two CRPF men and one J&K policeman were martyred on Monday.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle and three pistols were seized.

The security forces had launched the operation on Monday to track down the terrorists who had escaped after attacking a joint patrol party of the police and CRPF.

A contact was later established with the terrorists that triggered the encounter.

On Monday, LeT’s north Kashmir chief Sajad Ahmad Mir was among the two terrorists killed in the encounter.

Two Army men had sustained gunshot injuries and were shifted to hospital.

According to police, Mir had a history of terror crimes since 2016. “He was involved in planning and executing several terror attacks in the area, including atrocities on civilians and attacks on security establishments,” police had said.

Police said he was also involved in recruitment of youths in terror ranks.

The other killed terrorist, Anayatullah Mir, was also involved in threatening and harassing civilians in Pattan area and transporting foreign terrorists from north Kashmir to central and south Kashmir, police had claimed.
