India: Pakistan Violates Ceasefire on Jammu & Kashmir LoC, Soldier Martyred And 2 Injured

An Army jawan was killed and two others injured on Sunday in unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir”s Poonch district, sources said. Another ceasefire violation by the Pakistan forces was later reported from LoC in Baramulla district.

The Army sources said: “One soldier was martyred and two soldiers were injured in Pakistan”s firing and shelling along the LoC in Kirni sector this morning. The Indian Army is retaliating befittingly. The injured soldiers have been shifted to hospital.”

Later, Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that Pakistan troops indulged in unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Rampur sector of Baramulla district on Sunday morning by firing mortars and other weapons.

“A befitting response is being given,” he said.

Last week, an Indian soldier was killed and a civilian injured in Pakistani ceasefire violation on the LoC in Rajouri district.

On Saturday, a woman was killed and another injured in Pakistan shelling in Uri sector of the LoC in Baramulla district.

For nearly a month now, Pakistan has been violating the bilateral ceasefire on the LoC with impunity, forcing Indian authorities to evacuate many families from the LoC area in Uri tehsil. Pakistan shelling had damaged many houses, killed cattle, and damaged private vehicles in the area on Saturday.
