Remember this for life – your readers will determine if they’re going to read your article until the end based on your opening paragraph. If they were entertained or were able to stay attentive, you can be assured that they’ll read until the end. It is significant, especially for content creators. You need to get these people to the bottom of your posts, where they’ll find your source box, carrying the link to your website.
To get each of your articles to a fabulous start, write an appealing first sentence. Think of something that will help you draw your readers. I suggest that you ask a compelling question, offer a surprising fact, or start with humor or quotation. Then, find a tool that will help you get your readers at the edge of their seats. Give them a purpose to read on. Here’s what will work: give them just enough phenomenal information and command them to read further to get even more interesting info.
Do you know what another thing that might also work? Start by telling a story that your readers can quickly identify. Last month, I wrote about the things I had experienced when I started writing my articles. I talked about the difficulties, the lessons I’ve learned, and the errors I’ve committed. A lot of people told me later that they were able to relate to that article and that they were glad that they’re not the only ones going through the same thing.
Just like the other sections in your article, the first one should also be short. It must not include more than five sentences. Think of this as your teaser. As you want your readers to read more, you do not need to give out all the intriguing information in this part; just enough to move them a little.
Other people use this paragraph to tell their readers what’s in store for them. It is useful as online users are most inclined to pay attention if they know that they’re going to profit from doing so. Just make sure that you deliver what you’ve assured. If you tell them that they’ll get an adequate solution to their problems, ensure that you give them precisely that. Otherwise, you’ll bother these readers, and they will not believe you the second time around.

- It should be short, to the point and crisp.
- It should contain stories, never before heard facts, humour or tales that could draw your readers.
- Proper testing is required. Make sure you are testing your paragraph that you are to use. Determine which one interests the group of people you are aiming for and stick to it.
- Never estimate the value of feedback. Take feedback from critics, well-wishers, and friends. It is important to look at your work through the eyes of your readers.
