Australian hospitalised after being shocked by overhead train wires in ‘bid to rescue cat’

A 19-year-old man who claims he tried to rescue a cat on train tracks is recovering in hospital after being shocked by live wires.The incident happened about 8pm yesterday in Wulkuraka, near Ipswich in Queensland’s south-east.

Police say the man and a friend were climbing a bridge over the tracks when the 19-year-old slipped and fell, making contact with the live wires above the train lines.

On arrival emergency services needed to cut through the protective fencing around the train line to reach the teen.He was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

He is currently in a stable condition in hospital with head injuries and serious burns to his chest, groin and arms.

The man told authorities they were chasing a cat up the bridge.
