MHT CET 2020 Dates Announced Along with the Pattern and Syllabus; Check Here

The State Common Entrance Test Cell has announced exam dates for MHT Common Entrance Test 2020. The schedule has been released on the official website, which states that the exam will be conducted in the month of April 2020 on nine different dates. The exam will be held from 13 April 2020 to 17 April 2020 and then from 20 April 2020 to 23 April 2020.

MHT CET is conducted to grant admission to the students to a number of courses including Bachelor of Technology or Engineering (B.Tech or BE), Bachelor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D/ B. Pharm), Agriculture and Allied courses, Dairy Technology, Fisheries Science in a number of private and government universities in the state of Maharashtra. All the courses are full-time courses. Pharma D is a 6-year course while all the other classes are 4-year courses.

Usually, the exam is conducted in the month of May, but in 2020 it has been decided to conduct the exam one month prior to the usual dates. The last notification stated that the exam would be conducted in May but the final notification the exam dates are changed and will be conducted in the month of April 2020. The final dates are not subject to further changes.

The exam will be conducted in computer-based mode. Till 2018, MHT CET was conducted through offline mode and in 2019, it was conducted through online mode for the first time.

MHT CET 2020 Exam Pattern

The syllabus for the exam comprises of specific topics from class 11th syllabus and complete class 12th syllabus of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. In the exam, 80% weightage is given to the syllabus of class 12th while 20% weightage is given to class 11th syllabus. Mainly application-based questions will be asked in the exam.

  • The exam is to be conducted in 2 groups. The two groups are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB).
  • The question paper will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), and no negative marking will be there.

Syllabus for MHT CET 2020

The syllabus for MHT CET 2020 will include some topics from class 11th syllabus Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education along with complete class 12th syllabus. The topics from class 11th syllabus, which will be asked in the paper are given below:

Physics: Measurements, Force, Scalars and Vectors, Friction in solids and liquids, Ray optics, Refraction of Light, Magnetism Magnetic effect of electric current.

Chemistry: Some basic concepts of Chemistry, Redox reaction, States of Matter: Gases and liquids, Surface Chemistry, Hydrogen, Nature of chemical bond, s-Block elements (Alkali and alkaline earth metals), Alkanes, Basic principles and techniques in Organic Chemistry.

Mathematics: Trigonometric functions, Factorization Formulae, Trigonometric functions of Compound Angles, Straight Line, Sets, Circle and Conics, Relations and Functions, Sequences and series, Probability.

Biology: This section comprises of questions from two specialisations i.e. Botany and Zoology. The topics from which the questions will be asked in this section is given below. 

Section I- Botony: Diversity in organisms, Plant Water Relations and Mineral Nutrition, Biochemistry of the cell, Plant Growth and Development.

Section II – Zoology: Organization of Cell, Human Nutrition, Animal tissues, Human Respiration.

Exam dates for five other state Common Entrance Test have also been released. MCA CET 2020 will be held on 28 March 2020, MBA CET 2020 on 14 and 15 March 2020. M.Arch CET 2020 and BHMCT 2020 will be held on 10 May 2020 while MHMCT 2020 will be conducted on 16 May 2020.
